Freedom In Wickedness

It is a consistent theme in past cultures that elite courtesans were often the only truly free women. They were women of intellect, education, and power in worlds which denied that a woman could be anything.

It's time to reclaim that heritage.

I saw this on Facebook with the caption “Times have most definitely changed.”
Certainly this is different from the present, but I would argue this is not any better. It doesn’t matter whether society wants women to be curvy or skinny - the problem is that society is (and was)* teaching women that to be attractive they have to look a certain way.
*My point is that THINGS DON’T CHANGE. Society is still pressuring women to be perfect - it doesn’t matter what that definition of perfect is.

This is exactly why the whole “real women have curves” thing pisses me off so much. Because it’s just trying to switch the social definition of female attractiveness back around again, instead of actually trying to liberate women from oppressive social ideals.
