Freedom In Wickedness

It is a consistent theme in past cultures that elite courtesans were often the only truly free women. They were women of intellect, education, and power in worlds which denied that a woman could be anything.

It's time to reclaim that heritage.

I know we’re all sick of politics. And, I want to make it clear that this is NOT a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, etc, specific issue. This is something that will affect ALL Californians no matter your political party.

If you live in California please vote YES on Prop 30 and NO on Prop 38.

Prop 30 will add funding to K-12 AND the California Colleges.

If Prop 38 passes it will negate Prop 30, and the funding will ONLY go to K-12.

This means, if 38 passes Californian Colleges will receive NO additional funding, and be facing the WORST deficit in years (if not ever).

Classes will be cut, summer and winter sessions will be canceled, and (for Community Colleges) anything that is NOT a transferable course will be gone.

For me, this means I will probably not be able to get my AA. I need to take a remedial math class before I can get into college level Algebra. If Prop 30 fails (or is over thrown by 38) the math class I need will probably be cut, and I will not be able to finish my education.

I know some people are not in school, and don’t have family or children in school, and you may think this means nothing to you.

Educating future generations is important for ALL OF US!

The state of California puts more money into the prison system than it does the education system.

It is disgusting that our state would rather make money off of prisons, rather than well educated citizens.

This needs to STOP.

So please, if you live in California, take the time to research these Propositions (you don’t have to take my word for it). Please, REGISTER TO VOTE, and vote YES on 30, and NO on 38.

And please, pass this on. Talk to people about thisnot just on heretalk about it in your schools, your homes, on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Get the word out, the future of our education depends on this.

EDIT:

Prop 30 will tax people who earn $250,000 or more a year.

Prop 38 will tax people who earn $8,000 or more a year.

Reblogging my own post? Why yes I am, because this is IMPORTANT!

Pleaseeven if you don’t live in Californiacould you reblog this and get the word out to followers you might have who do live here? Thank you.

For the record: a close friend of mine had to leave California because of this, because she was attending a public four-year university and they sent out an all-students e-mail which basically said, “We have to cut our class offerings to the bone because of budget cuts, so students are no longer allowed to double major, no longer allowed to take minors, no longer allowed to switch majors after declaring, and no longer allowed to take any class that does not contribute towards graduation requirements in their current major. In order to enforce this, from now on all class schedules must be pre-approved by student advising / counseling; without their approval you will not be permitted to register for any class whatsoever.”
